East Buchanan hosts Iba Family court dedication

East Buchanan HS is proud to announce the naming of the high school basketball court after the Iba family.  Lucille, Henry, Howard, Clarence, and Earl Iba were born and raised in Easton, and from there, went on to have successful basketball coaching careers. Most notably Henry Iba who went on to win two NCAA National Titles at Oklahoma State University, served as head coach of three U.S. Men’s Olympic basketball teams, and finished his career with 751 wins.  Henry is enshrined in seven hall of fames, including the National Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts. All four of the Iba brothers are enshrined in the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame located in Springfield, Missouri.

Thursday, November 21 a banquet to honor the family will be held at the Stoney Creek Inn, St. Joseph, Missouri with dinner starting at 6:00P.M., and a question and answer session to follow.

Moe Iba - Son of Henry Iba

Gene Iba - Son of Clarence Iba

Skip Iba - Son of Clarence Iba

Norm Stewart - University of Missouri

Kim Anderson - Pittsburg State University

Tom Smith - Missouri Western State University

Larry Holley - William Jewell College

Sundance Wicks - Current Missouri Western State University coach



These coaches have over 3,200 combined wins



Tables are very limited and will be sold on a first come-first serve basis. Individual tickets will not be sold, only tables of eight. Table cost is $240.00



Friday, November 22 - The East Buchanan High School basketball

court will be named after the Iba family. Ceremony will begin at

6:00P.M.
